[comp.sys.mac] Superpaint and MicroPhone

) (09/13/88)

I seem to have a problem when running SuperPaint 1.1 and MicroPhone II together
under MultiFinder. MicroPhone will almost always quit with a reason code of
(2) if I try to do anything like run a script. I also had this problem with
SuperPaint 1.0, but it is a little better with 1.1, so I suspect SuperPaint.
It doesn't seem to matter what order I start them in, either.

System: Mac SE, System 6.0 (still crashes under System 5.0, as well), various
random inits like QuicKeys, Vaccine, SuitCase.

Any ideas??

Thanks, Rich

I assume that since you are able to get both SuperPaint and MPII running
under MF that you have at least 2 megs on you. Our Tech Support people
here have tried this out and have not been able to replicate the problem on
their 2.5meg SE's running System 6.0 (some but not many INITs).
If you could get us some more information like your amount of memory,
partitions sizes (or defaults) of the applications under MF, exact INIT's, etc.
we would really appreciate it in documenting the problem.
Just one note of interest regarding MicroPhone II. You can safely reduce
the partition size of MicroPhone II down to about 256K without losing any of
the functionality. What it will do is to reduce the size of the 'scroll-back
buffer' so it is possible (I do it all the time) to run combinations like MPII
and FullWrite or MPII and MPW under MF on a 2 meg machine!!
