I'm looking for a audio digitzing system that will allow me to process the digitized sounds in "realtime" as they're acquired. For instance, I'd like to have certain events triggered by sudden peaks in the sound (like a voice-activated switch). The Farallon thing (I think it's called MacRecorder) has an acceptable digitizing rate (22kHz is fine with me) and a nice price, but no programmer's interface - all it can do is write the data to a file, for LATER processing. So it's out. Meanwhile, I'm familiar with more serious data acquisition boards from people like Data Translation, National, Strawberry Tree, GW etc. but these are all in the $1000 range. Are there any cheap (less than a couple hundred bucks) audio digitizers around with reasonable programmer's interfaces? I remember hearing about one that had a realtime "oscilliscope" display of the sounds - Impulse, maybe? Please drop me email if you know about such things. I'll summarize to the net if I get requests to do so...
