In looking at the PostScript output produced by chosing Print and then hitting "f" or "k" just after clicking "OK," I see lots of things that aren't PostScript primitives, such as cd, op, and gm. Are these things macros that are defined in the LaserPrep or somewhere else? I've looked at LaserPrep with resedit and found some of them, I think, but others are eluding me. Also, the PostScript that gets saved to a file when I hit "f" or "k" is the *same* regardless of which key I hit. Why doen't one of them include the LaserPrep file?!?! (BTW, I just noticed that the "f" or "k" key after the "OK" click doesn't work under system tools 6.0. sigh). Another question: I am writing a book. I want to use the friendliest DTP package available, but I think I will be forced to use something like TeX. I only know about the TeXtures implementation for the Mac, but that pacakage is severely brain-damaged in that graphics can only be included in the document if they are present in the internal "pictures" window; there should be the option of just specifying a file name in the text, a pointer if you will. Is there a better implementation? Another question: Why isn't there a TeX-like package built directly around the PostScript langauge? It seems like a macro pre-processor and other sugar coating would result in a much more powerful language than TeX. What am I missing? I know about DisplayPostScript (or at least that it exists), but there is there a document preparation package built on it? Thanks in advance for replies (by mail please, unless general interest is probable).
