Where have all the Mac Pluses gone. Here in Portland Oregon, NO STORES HAVE ANY, or will they have any in a while. One store said the will NOT BE GETTING ANY MORE FROM APPLE period. Where can you buy these critters??? Is there are problem manufacturing them fast enough, or what? With Apple upping their SE, and Mac II prices, these things will be in even higher demand! It been looking like the Macintosh is starting a slow death. ------------------------------------------------------------: : | GEnie: T.CARSTENSEN : : Thomas Carstensen | Delphi: CARSTENSEN : : Mentor Graphics | CompuServe: 177000,403 : : 8500 SW Creekside Pl. | : : Beaverton, OR 97005-7191 | tomc@pdx.MENTOR.COM : : (503) 626-7000 | ...{sequent,tessi,attunix, : : | apollo}!mntgfx!tomc : :------------------------------------------------------------: : . . . I suspect {guess not fact} that Apple is no longer manufacturing the MacPlus and what you are experiancing is the emptying of the pipeline. Not too long ago the Plus took a big dip in price and I think that there were system deals going with it. That is Apple's classic manuver to rid the shelves of unpurchased oboslete machines. Stop manufacture, lower the price, and when supplies are exhausted declare them discontinued. They have stopped mentioning the Plus in the literature they send out to user groups. The price of EVERYTHING else went up. They didn't even mention the Plus. I would love to be corrected by someone in the know. I think Apple should produce at least one Macintosh that middle class people can afford. TeriAnn PS any guesses as to which company will build the computer which will be 'the computer for the rest of us'? Apple dosen't seem to be interested anymore & I just don't know of any manufacturer into building a volks's computer.

>I suspect {guess not fact} that Apple is no longer manufacturing the MacPlus >and what you are experiancing is the emptying of the pipeline. I'd doubt it. A number of computer stores locally are advertising Mac Plusses, and at least one is really pushing them and has them in stock. I think it may be more likely that the local dealers are trying to minimize their inventory and pushing the SE, which is a hotter product and has a higher margin. You seem to be able to get the Mac+ here in Sillycone quite nicely. Chuq Von Rospach chuq@sun.COM Delphi: CHUQ Editor/Publisher, OtherRealms
