I am looking for information on currently available OCR packages for Mac (or for PCs, for that matter), both with regard to appropriate scanners and with information on the pros/cons of the OCR software itself. For example, there've been a couple of recent postings that were negative on Olduvai's Read-It and postive about OmniPage. But these remarks had no specifics of what was good and what was bad. The context of usage is for scholarly input of small extracts of text from many sources. Thus tolerable font-learning is a must.
