Anyone given any thought to a new newsproup, comp.sys.NeXT? I may have an advantage because I've seen the machine, but I think we'll need such a news group fairly soon after Oct. 12th! A proposal for the creation of comp.sys.NeXT has just been made on the news.groups, the newsgroup about creation of new groups (whew!). There's a 2-week discussion period, starting 24-sep, followed by a 30-day period of votes. Votes should be sent to root@amyerg.uucp and include the newsgroup name and either "yes" or "no" in the subject line (easier to count). It's not a bad idea to include your .signature in the body of your vote. -- Danny +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Mail : Danny Schwendener, ETH Macintosh Support Center | | Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, CH-8092 Zuerich | | Bitnet : macman@czheth5a UUCP : {cernvax, mcvax}ethz!macman | | Ean : macman@ifi.ethz.ch Voice : yodel three times | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+

How close is the user-interface to a Mac? If it is VERY CLOSE (nudge, nudge, wink, wink), then maybe we can just start talking about the NeXT box in comp.sys.mac ;-) Seriously, there seems to be a trend towards increased connectivity (MS-DOS boxes being able to import certain Mac-produced files, and visa versa). Maybe it isn't too unrealistic to expect the NeXT box to read (and run...?) Mac programs. Maybe we will soon see Apple produce a "Mac card" that you can plug into your NeXT, enabling it to run Mac programs. >Just a thought... Same here. -Ted
