Hi, This is a followup on my XT-2190 problem. If you recall, I have an Apple 80mb and an XT-2190 (by way of an Adaptech 4070 controller), both connected to the internal SCSI bus in a Mac II. Well, it broke. As soon as the XT-2190 come ready, my Mac plays 4 chords each higher in note than the previous, then the screen goes dark blue and hangs. Well, I did some troubleshooting tonight. 1) Only Apple 80mb connected - it works fine. This means I did not fry my Mac SCSI port... 2) Only Adaptech/XT-2190 connected, I get the 4 chords and a SAD MAC with 0000000F 00000003 on it and a dark blue screen. 3) Only the Adaptech connected, ie, the XT-2190 disconnected from the Adaptech, but the Adaptech connected to the bus, the Apple 80mb boots. SCSI bus CDEV by Paul Mercer sees both devices. So it looks like the drive is at fault..... I am not willing to dismiss it as a faulty drive that quickly. On powerup, it DOES do the 18 zone reads the Adaptech tells it to do for Bad block replacement and it DOES pass the Adaptech diagnostics. APPLE, please tell me what the error chord I describe means? APPLE, what are the Sad Mac errors I describe above. ------ Phil Hunt
