[comp.sys.mac] Processors--68000 and others

Michael_J_Ward@cup.portal.com (10/06/88)

With reference to a message from a person at Moto high-end marketing, the
reason the first Macintosh used the vanilla 68000 is that there weren't
any 68010's at the time. In fact, the prototype Mac used the first plastic
68000 to escape the Moto factory.
Now, I do need to ask the release date of the 68010. How does it
compare with the release date of the Mac?

The 68010 was released for full quanitity production in December of 1982.
Certain customers of course could get sample quanitites quite a bit earlier.
