[comp.sys.mac] What would YOU want in a Mac BBS?

russ@uokmax.UUCP (Random J Nightfall) (10/17/88)

There are a few deranged individuals down this way (alas, myself included)
that are busily hacking on a new Macintosh BBS System (as yet unnamed, as far
as I've been told).

My question to the Macintosh public is...

What would you want to see in a BBS? Try and be reasonable ...
for instance, parallel processing is unlikely. ;-)

Send mail to one of the following:

	russ@uokmax.UUCP [sun!texsun!uokmax!russ]
	srpenndo@uokmax.UUCP[sun!texsun!uokmax!srpenndo]
	rwthurma@uokmax.UUCP[sun!texsun!uokmax!rwthurma]

Look forward to hearing from everyone.

I'm not sure if you are aware that a COMMUNICATIONS TOOLBOX will be
available for Macintosh applications developers, probably next Spring.
This will open up the Mac to multi-modem cards and a lot more features
critical to the Mac becoming an information host <that could include
a BBS as one component>.

As one of the developers of this new Mac BBS system, I guess I will take
the opportunity to answer this first.

We are aware of the new COMMUNICATIONS TOOLBOX and rest assured, we are
keeping our eyes locked to every new announcment concerning it.
Depending on how fast our development goes and when the Toolbox is
released, we may or may not include its features in our first version.
I would love to say more, but I am afraid that development at this point
is a "company secret".

Comments or suggestions for this new MacIntosh BBS system can be addressed
