When I went in to get system 6.0.2 from my local Apple dealer, I got an interrogation that went something like "What kind of Mac do you have?" "512E", says I. "It won't work." "Why not?" "Uses too much memory." "I have a 2meg expansion," I explain. "Uses too much disk space," says they. "I have an 80-meg hard disk," I said. "Objection overruled," says they, and decided to give it to me (or let me copy it) but with the caveat that it might not work anyway, and cautioned me that I *had* to use the installer, couldn't just drag the system fil over, which is what I usually do, since all my fonts and DAs except the fonts that you can't remove from the System file are in separate Suitcase files. Anyway, I brought it home, made a complete backup of the disk (had read that there might be problems) and installed it, and it worked. I've been waiting for problems and the only one I've encountered so far is that Dark Castle refuses to run, claiming somebody is using around 19K of high memory. :-( But even the Sound Cdev works for me, so I guess I have one of the later 512E's that has the extra parameter RAM. Now, if system 7.0 also works, whenever it comes out...
