-------- Can anyone recommend a hard disk (probably 20MB) that I can connect to a LaserWriter II NTX? I know that Apple Drives work, but I'm hoping I have some other choices. I also know that Dataframe drives do NOT work.

I think I currently have about 30 ADOBE fonts installed on it. I believe the Rodime drives are the same physical drives that Apple uses as internals on the SE. I'm surprized that DF drives don't work. We have about 15 of them here and have never had any trouble daisy-chaining them to all and sundry SCSI devices (scanners, tapedrives, SE's port, etc.). One obvious thing you might try is increasing the SCSI port address on the DF to a higher value before attaching to NTX. Disclaimer: I am participating as a guest of Bruce Edwards. Just for fun, I'll point out what is probably the most expensive solution of all - but then, maybe it isn't if the alternative is to buy everything piece by piece. In the new Adobe Type Catalog, Fall 1988, there is a hard disk with all 300 fonts just ready to be used by your NTX. They don't mention brand name of the disk, but you can call (800) 83FONTS for information. If you have the cash, wouldn't this be great? Shirley Kehr

Herb, You are correct...with the expection of the XP150, all SuperMac DataFrame/XP hard disks are not compatible with the LaserWriter II NTX. The problem arises due to the OMTI controller that SuperMac is currently using. Fabian Ramirez SuperMac Technology fabian@cup.portal.com sun!cup.portal.com!fabian
