[comp.sys.mac] HELP!! I can't restore my backup.

mstuard@pdp.cs.OHIOU.EDU (Michael J. Stuard) (10/28/88)

I know, I know I am really STUPID but just listen for a second.

here is the story of the down fall of Mike Stuard's HD:

I just got my dad's Jasmine Direct Drive 80 and changed a bunch of files and downloaded a bunc of files and decided to back it up. I used a Backup program that was on the hard drive. (error #1) I then went to restore the HD using HDbackup 1.0. HDbackup 1.0 promptly proceded to erase my HD (with my consent) but would not recognize my backup disks. (big problem.)

That is what happened and here is what I think went wrong:

The archival methods of each HDbackup were not compatible. I can't seem to locate the HDbackup that I used. I can however describe what the window looked like when I was using it:
The overall setup looked quite similar. The % finished graph was a little larger, but everthing else looked similar. (remember this is from my memory) But there were menus across the top of the screen.

I know that this is not much to go on but I would be forever indebted to some one who could mail me a copy on disk or point me in the direction of someone who could. I have called Jasmine, the local Mac Users Group, both to no avail. I am going to try calling apple to see what they can do.

For the kind soul that has this program and wants to help my address is:
     Mike Stuard
     314 Ewing Hall
     Athens OH, 45701

My Phone is 614-597-7016 I am usually home after 6:00 PM.
I am really desperate. Any help is greatly appreciated.
I promise I won't ever do it again.
