If Suicase does not open any DA/FKEY/FONT/SND files at startup, everything is ok. If it opens up some small ones, everything is ok. But if you have it open alot of files or large ones, then TSSNET does not start up. It dies with a 'FAL install error -43'. My guess is that Suitcase ][ does not allocate spaces very well on startup.... Well, back to Font/DA Juggler for now!!! UPDATE!!!! If you rename Suitcase II to zSuitcase II, it seems to work completely and you can load the normal stuff through Suitcase on startup. Phil

Font/DA Juggler Plus, I believe, simply allocates a quite large constant amount of system heap space -- any not actually needed for the resource maps of suitcase files is wasted; and if many large files are opened, such that the allocated space is too small, a crash will ensue. Suitcase II allocates space as needed, per the sizes of the resource maps of the suitcase files that are to be automatically opened at startup -- plus a reasonable amount of slack left over. It may be in some cases that this amount of slack is less than what was actually free before Suitcase II installed. It would appear that TSSNET (with which I am not familiar) does not allocate the space it requires, and is depending on the happenstance of other software accidentally doing that for it. I am assuming from the problem description that the number of files that Suitcase II opens is not strictly relevant, i.e., that "a lot of files or large ones" means that the problem does occur with a small number of large files (files containing many resources). This would indicated a system heap space problem, as discussed above. On the other hand, if the problem occurs only with many files, regardless of file size, then the problem may be due to running out of openable file "slots"; in this case it could be cured by using Suitcase II's "Power User" Settings option to increase the number of openable files. I am the author of Suitcase II.
