1) MacWorks+ from Sun Remarketing is a very nice way to turn a Lisa into a mac+. It uses about 100k of RAM, doesn't YET implement all the "sound" calls (crashes when some are attempted) and does not yet seem to format 400k disks so that they can be read on a different (normal) machine (+, SE or 512). The problems are being fixed - I'm about to test 1.06 (it's in the mail) which is supposed to fix the disk calibration. Sun Remarketing are planning to come out with an all singing/dancing 1.1 by the end of the year which will implement all the sound traps. They are fast to respond to bug reports but have no idea how to estimate when projects will be completed. The product is $200 (tel 801-752-7631) - it's nice to be able to run multifinder on the large screen. Most of the + software seems to run with no problem, special screen handling is almost certainly bound not to work though, however with the advent of the MacII, application writers seem to be more screen-size independent. Hats off to these guys - nice job. (BTW - no relation other than a happy customer who will be even happier when 1.1 comes along!!) 2) A Mac+ system question. I use a new Mac+ at work which came with 6.02 and a nice new system beep (not BOING just a simple, short, quiet, unassuming beep. System 6.02 however comes with a system "sound" file that allows the beep to be substituted by "clink-clank", "Yeep", "BOING" and "boing" - great sounds but I'd rather have my beep back guys!! So I tried deselecting - no go - "sound" remembers the last selected. I removed the "sound" file - same effect. I copied the system from the distribution disks - no effect. Am I seeing a PRAM effect here? how do I get my quiet beep back? TIA --alen the Lisa slayer (it's a long story) ....ucsd!ncr-sd!asdev2!alen
