While y'all have been discussing the features you would like to see in the Finder, I have been playing around with MultiFinder 6.1b1(i think that's the version). I believe it came with our order of MPW. Well, Apple *has* been listening to what had been said. The most major change in MF is the new menu item under the About... item of Applications. This menu item is: 'Set Aside (application name)' By selecting this item MF makes all the windows of that application invisible, therefore no longer cluttering your screen. Or lets say you have an application open and are tired of all the otehr application's windows under yours, you pull down the Apple menu, hold option and the 'Set Aside (application name)' becomes 'Set Aside Others', and selecting it makes all other APPL's windows invisible(even the Finder's!). These 'Set Aside'ed application are no longer available by clicking on the MF small icon in the menubar, but they are still in the apple menu. So to bring them back, you will have to select them from the Apple menu. (The small icons of the items 'Set Aside'ed are greyed out in the Apple menu). Note to users (and authors) of MFMenu+, Aplication Menu, etc.: Another big difference in the new MF is that the desk accessories are now listed after the running applications in the Apple menu. This makes it easier to get at different applications, but it breaks the inits mentioned above since they grab the part of the Apple menu that comes after the second disabled dashed line, which used to be APPL names, but are now DAs. So MFMenu+ gives me a menu of DAs. I would like to thank Apple for this enhancement. It makes things a lot more manageable. Standard Disclaimer: Don't mind me, I'm just babbling. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mahboud Zabetian (415) 256-3702 buzz@kinetics.uucp Kinetics, Inc. ...!ucbvax!mtxinu!kinetics!buzz 2540 Camino Diablo ***Coming soon: buzz@kinetics.com !!*** Walnut Creek, CA 94596 mtxinu!kinetics!buzz@ucbvax.berkeley.edu ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "You may ask yourself, how did I get here?
