[comp.sys.mac] AppleModem Troubles

pgn@osupyr.mast.ohio-state.edu (Paul G. Nevai) (11/19/88)

I have an old 1200 Baud Apple Modem. It works fine on a MacPlus.
But on my Mac II I have the following problem.
When I dial a number say atdt 123 4567 then it rings and when
it is picked up the the message "CONNECT" comes up and
THEN THE VERY SAME SECOND THE MODEM HANGS UP.
This happens each and every time.
Any clues why this is happening?

Are you using the same cable for both? Does the macII cable have the
line for DTR?

At any rate, I have seen this before. The modem does not pay attention
to the presence of DTR until it is CONNECTed, then it hangs up on
absence of DTR. It was the cable in *my* case.

Of course you may be able to configure it not to care about DTR.
