TempoII is probably your best bet for a macro package for the Macintosh which
will give you the most power when creating your 'autoexec' files. With TempoII you can simply turn the recorder ON, do the steps you want it to repeat later,
then turn off the recorder and save the Macro.
You will also need to use the StartupApplication to make it 'autoexec' but
this is trivial.

As far as linking to icons, you would need to get a package like 'Icon-It'
from Olduvai Software which puts an Iconbar on your screen and you can assign
a Macro to one of its icons.
