[comp.sys.mac] Is "educational" real?

Hi. I just bought a copy of FullWrite Professional through the school
bookstore for a great price. But when I open it up, I see that the
Application Disk is labelled "EDUCATIONAL USE". I also note that on
the bottom of the box it says "Version: 1.0 Educational". I've heard
that there is a version 1.1 available. It's Saturday so Ashton-Tate
isn't answering the phone for upgrade information. So I thought I'd
bother all of you and ask whether you know if this is the real thing.
Are the labels just there to prevent inappropriate sale? And when did
version 1.1 get released? Should I have any problem upgrading? I'm
waiting on opening the plastic wrapped disk till I talk to Ashton
Tate.

By the way, thanks to Chuq Von Rospach for his well written review of
FullWrite's flaws. I hope that Ashton-Tate takes them to heart and
fixes up the next release. For now, I'll bank my investment (small
with this educational discount, if only it turns out to be real) on
their user interface, which many (including Chuq) have said is very
good. If I end up dissatisfied, then I'll go back to Tex/Latex and
Emacs.

Thanks for listening,
john sterling

This is the sort of information that I was looking for when I asked if
people knew various details about educational versions of programs. John,
could you please post the price and whether or not there are any limitations
to your version of FWP when you find out?

Again, if anyone knows the details about educational or group discounts
on software or hardware, please email me. I will summarize for everyone's
reading pleasure if and when I get any responses.

Thanks .... Adam
