As far as I know the only Macintosh tape drives are SCSI devices and so cost a lot. But for the PC there are inexpensive 40Mb drives for $150 an up. These use the floppy interface so are slow (1 to 2 Mb per minute) but are sufficient for most people. The question is how can these be used on the Macintosh? Apple have SE and II cards for connecting up PC 5.25 drives for $149. So only the software is required. This sounds like a good idea. Anyone want to comment on the feasibility of this? Even better, does anyone know of an easy way to write driver software or to modify existing driver software? Even better yet still, the lack of floppy - interfaced drives in the market seems to present a niche that some enterprising person could fill. I bet that 40Mb drives for $300 to $400 would sell extremely well given the popularity of 20, 40, and 80 Mb hard drives.
