[comp.sys.mac] Solution to Apple Modem Trouble

pgn@osupyr.mast.ohio-state.edu (Paul G. Nevai) (11/22/88)

A few days ago I reported that my old 1200 baud Apple modem didn't work
on a Mac II though it was perfectly OK on a MacPlus.
A bunch of people asked me to announce the fix. So here it is (thanks to
Jim Budler (jim@eda.com).

I used a DB9 to DIN8 cable without a DTR line, i.e. only I guess 7 lines were
connected. That's why the modem kept hanging up right after connecting.

The solution. I took out my good old DB9 to DB9 (Mac 128 to Modem) cable and
added a Female DB9 to Din8 adapter.

The result. Now the Mac II and the 1200 baud Mac Modem are fine, as a matter of
fact I am using it to write this note.

10^6 thanks the this GREAT USENET.
