Is there a tool that permits one to attach an application to a file created by another application (replacing the original application)? The case in mind is to connect an application with a file that was created with an editor. This would make it possible to create the source file, link it to the application, and then double click the file to run the program, rather than click the program. A major advantage is that you could have many directories with the data and only one copy of the program.
