Well here we go again with another naive question.... I've noticed on some of the macs I work with (v6.02) that the sound icons (wavey lines) have changed to plain document icons and the stiffit files (.sit) files have changed to "C vices" from filled bins. Remaking the desktop at volume mount time does NOT help. On multi volume disks some of the volumes show the correct icon while others do not. How do I get my icons back (and how can I stop them changing in future)? TIA --alen the Lisa slayer ....alen@crash.CTS.COM ....ucsd.uucp!ncr-sd!asdev2!alen

There isn't a problem with the "C vices" icon - that's the new stuffit icon, and is appropriate for stuffit files. The fact that the sound icons do note have an icon means that the sound application is either (a) missing from the disk, or (b) no longer has a bundle and bundle bit. (a) is far more likely.
