I am currently seeking to connect a Macintosh-compatible SCSI port (DB-25, identical to the one on the Mac Plus) to a Seagate ST-157N hard disk drive (which has a 50-pin IDS-style connector (two rows of 25 pins). The problem I have encountered is in finding the right connector. Consumer-oriented Mac SCSI drives have a 50-pin female Centronics connector on the outside of their case. Macintosh SCSI cables are designed for the consumer-oriented drives, and end in a 50-pin male Centronics connector. This does not fit the Seagate's SCSI connector. What I am looking for is either a dead Mac SCSI drive from which I can cannibalize cabling, or a 50-pin female Centronics connector, or a source from which I can obtain one. Failing that, any useful information or advice would be appreciated. It is impossible to find 50-pin centronics connectors in Pittsburgh. Most of the electronics distributors around here are lucky to know what computers even are, let alone carry connectors for them. Radio Shack doesn't carry 50-pin anything. I find it hard to believe that given the popularity of Mac SCSI, that there aren't more do-it-yourselfers out there that need exactly the cable arrangement I am looking for. thanks in advance, --M

Also, they have a 25 pin to 50 pin Centronics cable just like Apple sells but for only about $10. Standard disclaimer: I'm only a happy customer. ____________________________________________________________________________ Rick Kimball | Mac Source BBS, Altamonte Springs, FL DATA (407) 862-6214 | VOICE (407) 788-6875 UUCP: rick@kimbal ..!gatech!fabscal!kimbal!rick ..!ucf-cs!sdgsun!kimbal!rick -- ____________________________________________________________________________ Rick Kimball | Mac Source BBS, Altamonte Springs, FL DATA (407) 862-6214 | VOICE (407) 788-6875 UUCP: rick@kimbal ..!gatech!fabscal!kimbal!rick ..!ucf-cs!sdgsun!kimbal!rick
