[comp.sys.mac] A/UX on a Mac w/o Apple Hard Drive

gsbrob1@apcvxa.uchicago.edu (11/27/88)

I'm posting this for a friend (phd_ivo@gsbacd.uchicago.edu) who doesn't have
net access and wants to know

"if anyone knows how to get a Unix onto the Mac without
buying the Apple HD (i.e. I want it onto a Rodime 140MB drive)."

I guess I should make clear that the person for whom I posted this question is
not talking about _pirating_ A/UX or other illicit actions, but is merely
curious whether A/UX is sold by Apple without the HD (since he already has a
HD).

According to my HEP price list Apple is shipping A/UX on floppies. I
believe that it comes on 35 floppies, but I won't swear to it. I
expect that in the future we might also see it distributed via 1/4inch
tapes.
