b In response to tekig!davidl, who said (among other things): >Genesis SUCKS. They crawled out of the same garbage can as >Supertwank. Furthermore, their lead singer sounds like a DUCK. >Almost as much as Scat Stevens! (boy, I'm so cute.) I find that interesting. I was trying to convince someone the other day that Peter Gabriel sounds quite like Cat Stevens (although I didn't intend it to be a negative comment). Since he (Gabriel) isn't with Genesis these days, I suppose that was just a coincidental observation. I have to admit: I DID go to a genesis concert last week. I also have to admit: Phil Collins appears to be a twerp; and much of Genesis new music (i.e. the last 10 albums) seems to be what a lot of rock is: a bunch of people doing fairly simple individual things in combination which is for some reason hailed as genius. (but then again; symphonic music could be described that way except that the putting together of it is generally much more complex and much better done). But I went to hear the noise, watch the dry ice, and look at the lights (which were pretty in spite of demonstrating a lack of imagination). And with that goal, I enjoyed it. To enjoy Genesis at home, I think it is necessary to give precedence to their earlier, better technically, music (that which is not "lead" by a singer). Mark Mallett decvax!sii!mem
