I remember someone posted this before, but I haven't seen any follow-ups.
In short, I want to use the digitized "simple beep" sound in my SE instead
of the old system generated beep sound. Apple had replaced the old beep
sound with the digitized sound, but they had gone back to the old sound
after many of us were outraged about it. Well, I am one of the minority who
actually likes the digitized sound more than the old beep sound, and I WANT
to use it! (Why not? The digitized "snd " resource is still in the system
anyway)
So, do any of you in the net know how to get back the digitized version of
the system beep?
Thanks in advance,
Chang Woo

If you really want the digitized beep back, I just tried the following with complete success (Sys 6.02). Using Resedit (or possibly Fedit etc.) open the system and the snd resource then select the simple beep id #1 and "get info". Change the id number to something else unique. Then close and save the changes. Quit Resedit, then open the control panel and the sound cdev and reselect the simple beep. With anyluck you should have your digitized sound back. Hope this helps, all unusual disclaimers may apply! _________________________________________________________________________ Snail: Mr Rees Griffiths, Marine Science Centre, U.N.S.W. P.O.
