	There is only one program out there that I am aware of that does what 
you request - "Ranger".  It was a PD program by Darin Adler (done at least
2-3 years ago) and should be archived at sumex or any of the other wonderful
sites (I'll bet Werner's got it at Rascal since that where Darin was at the
time he wrote it!)
	Anyway, I assume that it should still work with current systems, etc. as 
the applicationd didn't do anything 'odd'.

i have a copy of disktop 1.0 that i love and cherish.  it lets you set file
attributes.  you can also select several files at one time and set the 
attributes.  what a great finder replacement DA!
