I'm not sure where I found it, but there is a terrific "power-user" DA
called FileMaster. When I say power-user, I mean that you need to watch
carefully what you are doing (e.g., you can delete EVERY file off
your hard disk in three clicks. Now THAT is POWER!!)

To use in this situation with FileMaster, you simply click "Search
for...", enter the new type/creators, and "Apply to..." either (1)
Every file on the volume, (2) Every file in the folder, or (3) All
files in all subfolders.

FileMaster also has almost God-like qualities when other utilities choke.
For instance, you can select FOLDERS and make them invisible (and of
course, other traits), and successfully delete files that the Mac
thinks is "busy or in use." Surely other utilities can do these, but
few as efficiently as FileMaster (in my opinion, of course).

Looking at the "About..." box, FileMaster was written in mid-1987 by
Alexandar Falk (I have version 2.3). It is Shareware ($25).
Unfortunately, I lost the documentation in transit to the hard drive
system, but the DA is not terribly complex - you just need to be
careful.

While I have you here and our news needs a "significant" posting, I
also want to throw in a plug for the DA FileStar. It allows you to
change most Finder attributes, rename, delete, copy, duplicate, move
(handy!), create new HFS folder (just in case you don't use the SF
Vol. INIT), and transfer to another application. Hmm...now that I
look at that menu, it also has an option to Search Hierarchy with
several neato searching options (name, type/creator, date of creation,
modification, before/after specific dates). FileStar was written by
Scott Searle, Shareware $15, and I have version 1.0.

If you need more info or have updates to either of these, please let
me know.
				Merry Christmas!
