Folks,
I haven't seen much (any!) talk here about the Dove Fastnet cards.
While this may not be the proper forum, I was wondering what
experiences (good and bad) anyone might've had with Dove, and
especially the Fastnet card(s). As I understand it there are
at least two "flavors" of cards - one with and one with out
a processor. I recently ordered, but have not received
(not to worry, I'm sure it's hung up in OUR purchasing dept.!)
the FastNet card with the processor ('FastNet II'?). I was
told that if I wanted to run TOPS on the Mac II that I'd need
"... TOPS 2" - NOT THE SAME (or so I was told) as Version
2. What's the diff, and why required? Also, is there
any software (TCP/IP) that's highly recommended or <<NOT>>
recommended, compatible or not, etc. I'd like your
experiences if any, with this. By the way, just for
the heck of it, and so I would have SOMETHING to use with it, I
ordered Dove's TCP/IP software, but they hastened to add that
there are others, and named names & phone numbers! Unusually
friendly customer service!
Best Regards,
Pete Ferris

I've used a FastNet III card to run AppleTalk over Ethernet for several months, and it works fine. Tim Smith "Learn to juggle while it is still legal" -- bumper sticker
