The next version of NCSA/BYU Telnet with a primitive FTP client is available. This is version 2.2.2, and the following problems have been fixed and features added: 1. KIP is now working properly, so it now works properly with Kenetics FastPath 4.0. 2. During file transfers, the transfer byte count is now reported. 3. A host doing a binary "GET" from the Macintosh no longer leaves the file open on the Mac after the transfer is complete. 4. A timing problem with the FTP client has been solved which causes the FTP client to work properly with more systems - in particular some VAX VMS systems. 5. A menu option has been added that allows the operator to disable the graphics "clear screen" function. This is useful in some cases when you want the graphics to remain on the screen as when plotting overlays. This new version is available by anonymous ftp from the "zaphod" system at NCSA (ip number 128.174.20.50). It's in a BinHex 4.0 file called "BYU Telnet.Hqx" in a directory called "NCSA_Telnet/contributions". For those who can not ftp the file, you can try contacting me at the email address below and I might be able to send you the file directly. Note: NCSA is not responsible for maintenance of this version, so please don't bother them with problem reports. Regards, Jim Logan bitnet: loganj@byuvax.bitnet internet: loganj@yvax.byu.edu
