I would like to be able to run a certain application every time I
select "Shut Down" from the "Special" menu (a la "Set Startup", only
in reverse). After exiting from the application, the actual shut
down of the computer would then occur.
Does anyone know if such a program exists? Is it PD or commercially
available? If it doesn't exist, would someone be interested in
writing one (in the form of an INIT or CDEV)? I'm sure other people
would also be interested in having this capability.
I only need to run one application before shutting down but it might
be nice if it could handle multiple programs.
Thanks for your help!

I don't know if such a thing is available, but it should be possible. TOPS, for instance, catches SHUT DOWN requests if someone has your one of your volumes or folders mounted accross AppleTalk, and lets you abort the SHUT DOWN. It appears that it causes the Finder to get relaunched when this happens. Tim Smith
