Does anyone know a ramdisk working under MultiFinder? RamStart 1.4 bombs and RamDisk 2.03 says "not under MF". If possible, could someone mail me a copy of such a version. Thanx in advance Hacki

You have to load the RAM disk before starting MultiFinder. RAM disk programs permanently change memory allocation (until you reboot) and this is simply not possible for a program which is launched while MultiFinder is active. Earle R. You can't start a RamDisk under multifinder, but you can get the equivalent effect by starting up under single Finder with the ramdisk as the startup application, then after the ram disk has been created, open up the system folder "Unnamed #1" , find MultiFinder, and open it with CMD-OPT doubleclick. If you are going to do this a lot, I think you can change the type of MultiFinder to APPL and then doubleclick it normally. Ellen Walker CS Dept, Carnegie Mellon University elw@cs.cmu.edu --

Furthermore if someone knows of a ramdisk compatible with System 6 please be kind enough to post that info on the net. You would be even kinder if you emailed me a shareware/pd ramdisk working with System 6 (including MF). Just specify when running RamDisk Plus the first time that you wish to have it run MultiFinder after it's built the ram disk (this is done through a dialog box). That's all there is to it. There are also other neat options one can set, like having it run a specific program (under Uni- or MultiFinder) upon exiting, switching control to the ram disk if there's a system on it, etc. Robert -------- ra_robert@gsbacd.uchicago.edu -------- disclaimer: all these opinions are mine
