If you are thinking about getting the A+ optical mouse for your Mac SE or Mac II (or I guess Apple IIgs), this is a good time to do it. The November issue of MacUser had a special ad from MSC Technologies (the manufacturer), and I saw it in at least one other issue (or in MacWorld perhaps); a $15 rebate if postmarked before 12/31. I'm not recommending this specifically--I got it as a birthday present and I like it a lot--just pointing out that the time is right if you were thinking about it. It is similar to the Sun mouse, by the way, which is also made by MSC. If you decide to get it, Telemart, of Phoenix Arizona, also advertising in MacWorld and MacUser, has this mouse for $73; most mail order places list it for $85. They charge twice MacConnection's fee ($6) for shipping, and for an item under $100 they wait a week and ship it 2nd day (Federal Express 'standard'). So I waited an extra week and the total cost for a new mouse with 'lifetime guarantee' is $64. The charge slip is dated from when it was shipped, at least, not when it was ordered. Most of their prices for other items are more typical, so I wouldn't recommend that service and shipping fee normally, but the mouse was a good deal. Unfortunately, the rebate only seems to apply to the ADB mouse, not the Mac Plus model. /JBL (I have no connection with either above mentioned firm except as a one-time customer.)
