Like others in the group, I too would like information about printing docs to ImageWriters in the background. Specifically, I have a lab with many Mac SE's sharing one (soon to be two) ImageWriter. These Macs only have 1Mb of memory, and do not run MultiFinder. Hogging a Mac while waiting for your doc to print (along with everyone else's) is a terrible waste of resources, especially when the lab is full and people are waiting to get on a machine. Anyone have a solution to this (PD or otherwise) ? Thanks. -- Don Rainwater, University of Cincinnati Computer Center rainwater@ucbeh.san.uc.edu rainwatr@ucqais.uc.edu ccondjr@ucccvm1.bitnet

I have used Version 5.0 of SuperSpool from SuperMac Software and it has worked flawlessly printing MS-Word 3.01 documents in the background. It also handles background printing of RSG 4.0a, Microphone II MacNet and even MockPrinter tasks in the background (up to MockPrinter_s 28K ceiling. It does tend to slow foreground tasks down a bit, but what do you expect. The price is right and I am very happy with it. C U L - Bill -
