[comp.sys.mac] A barrel full of questions...

myers@eniac.seas.upenn.edu (Franklin Myers) (12/23/88)

Hi everybody,
This is my second posting here and I thank all of you for your advice
on my previous questions. BTW, I decided in order to get past all the expired
articles when I first started reading that I would skip from the front to the
back until I hit an unavailable and then skip forward in small increments.
(Hope that was useful to somebody...)
Now my questions -- there are a lot, but I was holding on to see if
they would be answered before I posted.
First, what does everyone use to clean their screens? A friend of mine
told me that there is a certain cleaner that should be used that won't harm the
screen and he wasn't sure about what kind of cloth to use that won't scratch.
Any suggestions?
Second, when I use my Mac for vt100 emulation, I set it for wraparound.
The problem is when I print out to my Imagewriter, it, instead of wrapping
around to the next line, writes back over the same line. Are there any software
or hardware solutions?
Third, when we received 6.0.2 here, I tried to use the installer for
everything. But even though the Appletalk Imagewriter was in the system folder
it was not acknowledged by the installer. Is there a fix?
Fourth, sometimes when I open certain text files, when I get back to
the desk top, there are some newly created files: ScrapFile, UndoFile, and
NewFile. What are these? Can they suppressed? Another MacWrite question: Is
there anyway when opening a non-formatted text file to skip the annoying
dialogs: Paragraphs or Newlines, and Naming Untitled OK...?
Fifth and last, (thank you for being so patient) is there some way,
perhaps through a DA, to view the creator/file type without having to go in
with resedit?
Please e-mail me the answers and if there are any requests I will post
to th net. Because of the high traffic and the oncoming holidays I suspect
that the next time I read the net I'll be greeted with 300-500 messages.

My thanks in advance for any help,
	Franklin Myers
