[comp.sys.mac] Mouse Problem

fortuna@Alliant.COM (Mike Fortuna) (12/21/88)

My ADB mouse has developed a weird problem. After it sits for a while, the
button will stick very badly the first time it is clicked. Subsequent clicks
work fine except for some occasional binding. I took the case apart and
could find nothing wrong. The micro-switch seems to work fine. Anyone
have a similar problem? Thanks in advance.

i've also got a small problem with my mouse, after it sits a while, i go to
move it, nothing happens. if i unplug it and plug it back in again, it seems
to clear up the problem. i finally got around to getting an extended keyboard,
and every so often (about as often as the mouse stops) when i hit caps lock
the light doesn't turn on. tho it does go into caps. i can usually clear this
one up by restarting the mac (i dont really do this often). the mac is running
all the time... anyone have any ideas why these problems pop up? i've been
thinking of getting a new mouse, since it seems the problem started a few weeks
ago, i'm assuming either the mouse wire is bad. i have no idea what's wrong
with the keyboard caps lock.

Yes. A secretary in another cube took hers apart and scraped around the
plastic switch with a razor blade. Then she gave me the razor blade. It
helped a little, but I thought the most effective thing I did was to not
screw it back together as tight. It seems to just be a poor fit of the
button on the case.

The other thing I did before this was repeatedly press the button until it
"loosened up". Once simply wasn't enough.
