Hi there, currently I am writing an article which will give an overview of all the possibilities to convert documents from one word processor to another. Therefore I am asking you out there if you could help me find some valuable information. Please help me, it serves the whole Mac communitity, especially those who have suffered so much under MS/DOS and are now trying to convert their PC files to the Mac. :-) If I can make a useful documentation and/or chart, I will send a copy to everyone who is interested (electronically via mail; or on paper including a self-addresed, stamped envelope). So please write... Here are my questions: 1) If you have experience in converting text documents, which application(s) do you use and what is your opinion? 2) Which conversion possibilties do the new word processing programs have? (Except: WriteNow 2.0, Word 3.0.2, WordPerfect 1.0.1) 3) Are there any other file conversion programs out there (like AFX, TranslatorDA, etc.)? a) If its PD or Shareware, could you send it to me (to the net)? b) Are there any rumors of future products/beta versions of such programs? (Like T/Maker who will provide direct MS Word and WordPerfect 'filters' soon, and WordPerfect who is going to release a MS Word conversion which doesn't bomb...) 4) Is there a documentation for Apple's File Exchange around? What is the use of all those "country" files which come with it? 5) In particular: Is there a possibilty (Mac or IBM; directly or indirectly) to convert between the interchange formats DCA/RFT (IBM) and RTF (MS)? a) Are there other 'interchange formats' which are common? 6) What does it look like on other systems (Unix, *NeXt*, etc.)? a) Does somebody by any chance know the conversion possibilities of the latest MS/DOS word processors? I would like to thank you very much for your help.
