For some reason when I have GateKeeper installed, after about 3 to 5 minutes of the Moire screensaver running, the screensaver stops and the screen returns back to normal(not black) except for the menu bar. The menu bar is left blackened and moire is locked up. At this point I still have access to the menus, although I can't see the titles of them until I click in the correct spot to choose that particular menu, so I go into the control panel and try to choose Moire and the control panel complains that the application isn't present or is locked, or some such thing. I then choose GateKeeper from the control panel, expecting it to tell me that some virus or something infected or corupted something on my disk, but it reports nothing. The reason I checked GateKeeper was because I had just installed the new Vaccine plus GateKeeper itself earler today and just before Moire stoped running I heard my disk being accessed or written to. I also ran Interferon3.1 and I'm not infected. Anyway, when I took GateKeeper out of my system folder, Moire2.22 runs fine and doesn't unexpectedly quit. BTW, I've been running system software 6.0.2 and Moire2.22 for several weeks now without any problems. The first time this strange problem showed itself was today after installing GateKeeper for the first time. Also, the problem is reproducable. I just have to re-install GateKeeper, re-boot, let Moire start up and BOOM!!, Moire quits. I know, because I've done it twice. Anybody know what's happening here??? -franco =================================== === ========= ===================== = Frank A. Unfortunately, I can't reproduce the problem you're having. I'm currently running GateKeeper on a Mac II with System 6.0.2 and Moire 2.22 and I'm not having any problems. In fact I've been running GateKeeper since (I believe) its alpha-2 version on this system, without incident. However, there can be conflicts between GateKeeper and Moire. The key is to make certain that Moire installs before GateKeeper does. All of the copies of Moire I've ever received came pre-named with a space as the first letter of the name, which does guarantee that Moire will install before GateKeeper. If your copy does not have a space at the beginning of its name, you should be able to correct the problem by adding that space. Hope this helps, ----Chris Johnson ----Author of GateKeeper

If >Hope this helps, >----Chris Johnson >----Author of GateKeeper There is also a similar problem with Gatekeeper and Microsoft Mail (Previously known as Intermail) _and_ Moire!! It turns out that Microsoft Mail needs to be loaded _before_ Moire (why? you got me...), and also before Gatekeeper. The little bit of a peeve I have about this situation is that anti-virals should be the _first_ INITs loaded, so that they will catch the INITs of viruses. If you have to load other INITs before Gatekeeper... You get my drift. A way around this _might_ (I don't have source code so I don't know) be if there was a patch to Gatekeeper which allowed it to grant privileges to INIT/cdev/RDEV files as well as ZSYS/FNDR/APPL's. The first three appear in the 'Type' 3 resource, but don't show up in the SFP dialog when you click on the "Add..." button. --Paul ps01@gte-labs.COM
