I have this address on file: BMUG 1442A Walnut St., #62 Berkeley, CA 94709 (415) 549-2684 BMUG seems to have an official presence on USENET in John Heckendorn (ARPA: bmug@garnet.berkeley.EDU, BITNET: bmug@ucbgarnet) whom I have seen on comp.sys.mac, so I will let him give the BMUG pitch... The BCS on the other hand I know quite well: The largest user group of its kind in the world (>30,000 members), The BCS can be reached at: The Boston Computer Society One Center Plaza Boston, MA 02108 (617) 367-8080 BCS Mac (the Macintosh user's group of The Boston Computer Society) can be reached directly at their office: BCS(insert an Option-8 here)Mac 48 Grove St. Somerville, MA 02144 (617) 625-7080 You can join through either address, the result will be the same. (If you do join from this posting, tell them `Kent' sent you. No, I won't get any kickbacks.) By joining (I think $35/year is the current rate), you will be a member of all of the BCS's user and special interest groups. Included in the membership is your choice of two group newsletters. (The BCS Mac's monthly "Active Window" is one of the best Macintosh publications I get.) Additional group newsletters are only $4 a year. All members get the monthly "BCS Update", and a quarterly Buying Guide that lists some deals available to BCS members. BCS membership is admittedly more valuable to those in the Boston area, but there are meetings spread through New England, not just Boston. There are members in most (all?) US states, and quite a few foreign countries. Claimer: The above is written by an active volunteer in the BCS. Joining the BCS a few years ago was one of the smartest things I've ever done.
