[comp.sys.mac] Minor problem with Suitcase

korfhage@CS.UCLA.EDU (01/21/89)

I make frequent use of the ApplicationMenu INIT, and I have noticed an
odd interaction between it and Suitcase. Whenever I select the DA layer
from the application menu (up in the corner), that layer is brought forward
and in addition the last DA in the menu is run. In my particular case, when
I bring up the DAs using application menu, I always have to close the System
Errors DA. Bringing up the DA layer by clicking in a DA window or clicking
on the small icon in the upper right corner does not bring up the extra DA.
Only when using ApplicationMenu while Suitcase is running does this occur.

Is this a know bug? Can it be fixed? It occurs with both Suitcase 1.2.4 and
Suitcase II.

I am running a 5 Meg Mac II, with a variety of inits, but I am pretty sure
from my testing that the interaction is only between these two.

Thanks for any help.

This is a bug in ApplicationMenu. It is fixed in the (upcoming) version,
which will be 3.3. If you rename ApplicationMenu so it loads after
Suitcase, then you won't have this problem. In the 3.3 version, it won't
matter which loads first.

The 3.3 version also works with MultiFinder 6.1, in which the list of
applications comes before the list of DAs. It also allows you to pop up the
menu anywhere on the screen. This version is still being tested, but I will
be posting it shortly.
