[comp.sys.mac] Check out Comp.Newprod - A SSSSSSSSPEAKING MAC.

pam@uhccux.uhcc.hawaii.edu (.) (01/23/89)

In Comp.Newprod there's an article about accessory available that lets your
Mac answer your telephone and speak to the person calling .

A business could have it take calls after closing and you can press a button
to leave a message (voice mail) or to get some info instead of getting a
"no-answer". Or maybe you could set up a voice+computer bbs or something from
your home with it! It doesn't use voice recognition, but does have touchtone
voice-response with digitized human voice and/or voice synthesis. Voice Rec
really isn't developed enough yet. ( or cheap enough for everyday home use.)

It does some other stuff too, like placing calls for you, or while you're away
(timer) or turning equip on&off from your mac or from far away using a phone

Yo.

I received a spec' sheet, and it sounds not bad. But looking at
the price, I think I'll prefer to build such a package from
scratch by myself. I be it won't work in Europe, because of
the different response tones (engaged, ringing, line free).
