[comp.sys.mac] GateKeeper 1.0 and HDBackup

I did a complete disk backup recently before taking my Mac in to get more
memory put in, using the backup program that comes with System 6.0.2 (I'm
pretty sure it's called HDBackup, but I won't swear to it). Fortunately,
the hard disk was unaffected (I didn't really expect trouble, I was just
being cautious), because I looked at the Gatekeeper Log file after I got the
Mac back and discovered a bunch of entries from the backup. I'm not sure
exactly what the problem was; there were only entries for some of the disks,
so it wasn't for every file, or for the desktop file on each disk. Also,
some of the disks were already formatted, so it wasn't objecting to formatting
the disk. My guess would be that the problem occurred when HDBackup split
files over 2 (or more) disks, but that's just a guess.

Anyway, the moral of the story is to give HDBackup (and probably any other
backup program) at least file privileges, or set override mode when using it.
(Override mode may not help though, since a long backup might conceivably take
more than half an hour.) Or you could just drag Gatekeeper out of the system
folder and reboot (probably the simplest thing to do).
