Hi. A discussion concerning the following went over the net a couple of weeks ago, but I don't remember all of it. I would appreciate someone emailing me the results of said discussion. While trying to do something simple (copy a file from one folder to another while holding the option key), my machine (2MB SE w/ 40MB HD - about 2 weeks old), decided to spend an awful long time updating the desktop file. After it finished, it seems that the desktop file was now over 12MB (was 64K). I looked at the desktop file with ResEdit, and found that one of the BNDL's had garbage where the ID value is normally kept. Doing a Get Info on this bundle, I found that it was taking up over 4MB. I didn't feel like trying to track down where the other 8MB went to, so I just rebuilt the damn file - I didn't *really* need those get info comments anyway. I know how to fix the problem (although a little brute force), what I really want to know is this some sort of known bug? Why did this happen? *** Sort of flame in the general direction of Apple *** Yo Apple! Don't you think it's about time to redo the desktop file stuff? How about at least keeping the comments somewhere else? *** flame off *** Thanks in advance for all responses. -- John. -- -- -- | | --- ----- --- |\ | ---- ---- ----- | | | | | |___ | |___| | \ | | __ | __ | | | | |___| ____| | | | | \| |____| |____| | ...there is no substitute (except a ZR1 'vette!)
