Sorry about this second posting Pnews didn't want to grab my included file which contained the questions. So here we go again... Is there way to increase the maximum number of volumes which can be mounted at one time when the running under Multifinder? It seems that after 9 partitions have been mounted the finder runs out of memory trying to mount a 10 partition or inserting a floppy into the drive, even though the amount of memory allocated to it under Multifinder has been increased beyond the 160K. Does the system heap have to be increased in order to mount more than 9 partitions? Also I need to increase the maximum number of files that are allowed opened at one time. I know about changing this parameter on the boot blocks of the startup volume and, according to FEdit+'s manual, changing the version bytes to $0015 (21 Dec) in order for the parameters with in the boot block to override those in rom. The problem is my version bytes are equal to $0017 (23 Dec), and of course FEdit+'s manual is dated 1986. Will $17 for the version string allow the boot parameters to override the rom parameters? If not how do I do it? I'm running with System Tools 6.0.2. Milt Sagen Internet: sagen@nucthy.physics.orst.edu Department of Physics Oregon State University Corvallis, OR 97331 Tele: (503) 754-4631
