Here's my situation: I have access to a MacSE connected directly to a Sun system. The Sun has a 2400-baud modem connected to it. I have no way of connecting the SE to an outgoing modem at this time. To connect to a local BBS, I log in to the Sun using SmartCommII, and use tip to access the modem. I am able to read text from the BBS just fine, but can not do any downloads using XMODEM (which is my only option on this BBS). What happens is that SmartCommII tries to handshake, but is never able to make the connection, and both sides quit. I have tried all three types of XMODEM (std, CRC, and 1K), all with 10-second timeout, to no avail. I tell tip to transfer the data raw and have even set my login tty to "raw" and "pass8". What am I missing? Also, is there an XMODEM program for Unix that would work in this case? I have seen an XMODEM that is useable for calling a Unix system from a Mac, but not vice-versa. -- David Elliott ...!pyramid!boulder!stan!dce
