[comp.sys.mac] More on changing the default Chicago font ?

jg@ukc.ac.uk (J.Grant) (02/07/89)

If you recall, about a fortnight ago I asked for help in changing
the default Chicago font on an SE. I had some very helpful replies,
basically of two forms :

i)	edit the ROV# of the system file (for the SE) and add in
a FONT id 12, then put your modified font in the system
	file.

ii)	edit the FOND resource of the system file to point to
a new FONT resource with my new font in it.

Fine. Method (i) just doesn't work at all, well not for me
under 6.0.2 on an SE with Rev2 ROMS. I have carefully checked
the system file and it just doesn't seem to care about the ROV#
resource.

Method (ii) works, I get *my* nice new font on the menu bar, but
when suitcase II is around and MSWord3 starts up ... bang, the
machine just stops dead. Suitcase (in this case 1.2.2) just does
not like my modified system font, although I don't know why.

Has anybody any bright ideas about how to bodge (!?) a different
font in ? (Those of you with large 95dpi monitors must have
done this before).
