In article <353@sdti.SDTI.COM> I write: > QuickRemote seems to have something to do with mail, modems, and connecting > to Unix. As I regularly connect via modem to Unix in a way that makes > mail handling rather awkward, this might be very useful. My query turned up these facts: QuickRemote is part of CE Software's QuickMail package, and is also sold separately. QuickRemote lets you dial in to the mail server running QuickMail and remotely send and retrieve mail, for instance from home. QuickRemote in itself has nothing to do with Unix mail. A product called Mail*Link from StarNine provides a bridge via Ethernet between Macs running QuickMail and Unix Mail. Someone (identity unknown) is said to be working on a modem link between QuickMail and Unix (UUCP). (If you are reading, here's a potential beta tester.) This is what I really had been hoping for.
