Three of the Macintoshes at my site have a really bizarre problem that no one has been able to solve.... Several of my documents seem to have, as their files type, other document names. For example if I show all of my files by name I find that the file "john's memo" has document type "bob's memo." And the file bob's memo is (obviously) another document. I've tried removing the files and recreating them from within their parent applications (e.g. click on MacWrite and read the document then save as "john's memo.2") and that works for about a minute... then they assume the file type of another document again. I've also tried rebooting, removing and restoing the system folder and all kinds of ad hoc experimentation but to no avail. This is happening on both Mac Pluses and Mac IIs and started soon after I upgraded to Finder 6.1 System 6.0.2. Has anyone else seen this problem? Please respond by email... I can't keep up with the Mac bboards right now. Thanks in advance! -- John T.
