I work in a computer lab serving about 50 mac SE's. The each have a Kinitics EtherPort card in them to connect them to our local branch of an ethernet network. The macs are being served by two IBM's running NOVELL network software. We are having some problems with Hypercard 1.2.1 on the server. Some stacks open and immediately give a "File system error -5000 while writing to disk" error. Other stacks let you navigate around a bit, and then give you the same error. The folder on the server is write protected, and the error still persisted after locking the stacks so Hypercard wouldn't try to write to them. One of the stacks in queston is the Microsoft Works 2.0 tour stack. It dies immidetaly on startup. (after hiding the menu bar, and whatnot other startup activities). Does anyone have any explanation of this behavior? Is novell to blame? And is there some way to work around it? Any and All help is appreciated. Thanks -Tim G. Johnson -johnsot@mist.CS.ORST.EDU
