[comp.sys.mac] Expansion Cards on SE/30's

dr@cs.columbia.edu (David Robinowitz) (02/15/89)

I've read in _MacWeek_ and _MacWorld_ about expansion cards for the
SE, including the Supermac external monitor card and DigiDesign's DSP
card. Somebody on the net mentioned the idea of an expansion chasis
for the SE/30 which would allow the multiplexing of direct-slot cards.
In this way, one could use any one card at a time (w/o opening up the
Mac, removing one card and plugging in the other ...... not fun :-( ).
I've taken physics, but I am CS person, not an EE, so I don't know if
this device would be a pain to build or merely an afternoon or two's
project.

Any comments?

Oh, yes, I know the NEXT would provide both large screen and DSP in
one box, but the NEXT isn't carry-on-luggage, doesn't run Mac
software, and it isn't sold at Columbia -- yet.

Thanks for your help.
